A combined treatment for patients with dry eye and associated laryngopharyngeal reflux: a real-life approach

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of administering a combined therapy in patients with dry eye syndrome (DES) associated laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). METHODS: The study was retrospective, open, observational, conducted real-life setting. Patients had pathological symptom assessment (SANDE) index (RSI) at baseline. were re-assessed after 1mo end treatment. treatment consisted three-month course based on therapy: Gastroftal drops, one drop three times day, tablets, two tablets lunch dinner. Tear break-up-time (TBUT) test, Schirmer RSI, SANDE questionnaire evaluated. RESULTS: included 253 patients. mean age 58±11.19y. TBUT test score Schirmer’s significantly increased (both P<0.001) RSI scores decreased CONCLUSION: current, open shows that using drops could represent valuable option managing DES LPR.
